Who is Carlotasweb?
Carlotasweb is me. It is also a name I invented long before I knew it would become my identity as a writer.
My name is Anne-Charlotte. Living in the United States, I often explained Charlotte by referring to the children’s book Charlotte’s Web. When “charlottesweb” was already taken on Hotmail, I replaced Charlotte with Carlota. The result was carlotasweb. A small improvisation that followed me for years and eventually became the place where my story lives.
I wrote my first book the way some people learn to swim: out of necessity. What began as survival became therapy and eventually a story I needed to share. The manuscript is now complete. I am working on everything that lives around it, one song, photograph and memory at a time.
I am a mother. I have lived in five countries, survived more than one failed marriage, lost people I loved and started over more than once. I know how a life can look perfectly normal from the outside while quietly coming apart within it.
I believe healing should come with a soundtrack. You will often find me singing in the car, dancing in a grocery-store aisle or losing myself at a music festival or karaoke night. Music is how I process life, which is why it runs through every chapter I write.
I write for women who have loved deeply, carried more than anyone realized and spent so long being everything to everyone else that they rarely stopped to ask what they wanted for themselves. Whatever their age, I hope Charlie’s story gives them permission to question, to feel, to laugh and to imagine what might still be possible.
